So, I find myself hardly ever posting anything on LJ these days. I remember when I used to obsessively stay on LJ and couldn't get enough of it. I still love LJ...really I do.

I just live a boring life, is all. When there isn't much going on it is hard to document things into a journal. The only thing exciting these days is my hobby: roller derby.

So, the last Sunday of February my roller derby league had it's first public game. It was nerve-wracking and also thrilling. I think the crowd of people really were entertained by it all. My league doesn't stage any type of theatrics like fake fighting. All of the entertainment was straight up roller derby. We even had some injuries. Unfortunately, one girl broke her collar bone. That was really horrible but she's a trooper and cannot wait to get back onto the rink. Now that's tough!

Here is a link to read a recap about the bout:

By the way...I'm on the Iron Maidens' team. We won!! :)

Wow! I really didn't intend to be away for so long.

I have been immersed in roller derby stuff. Our very first public game is this Sunday so please wish me luck and no broken bones. :)

To do [Jan. 10th, 2007|01:17 pm]
I have so many "to do" things on my mind. Mostly it all concerns the home.

So far I have rearranged my pantry area and my bathroom. I have updated some things in my kitchen. I want to also reorganize one of my closets and my guest bedroom. So many ideas but so little time and money.

If I better managed my time that wouldn't be an issue. Money, on the other hand, is something that you need when trying to update your home.

Happy New Year!

Hopefully, 2007 will be just as good or even better than 2006. 2006 wasn't horribly exciting but I did join a roller derby team and graduate from college. So, 2006 was a good year.

I had taken two weeks off from work which I had never done before. It was glorious. It was definitely hard to make myself come back. It is good being back in a routine again, though, since I tend to get more sleep during the work weeks compared to when I have time off.

Also, I'm back to exercising again too. My body missed the enjoyment of movement. I could tell whenever I got leg aches and pains from the lack of exercise. I also found out that two weeks off from skate practice is way too long. I'm still sore from Wednesday night's first practice of the new year.

2007 please be nice to me and my own because I'm ready to play and see what's in store for this year.

A conversation that my husband heard on campus years ago that I just remembered:

Girl 1: No, I'm telling you it's true.
Girl 2: Are you sure?
Girl 1: I'm serious. If you just let him fuck you in the ass you can't get pregnant.
Girl 2: ...

Unfortunately, these are college students...*sigh*

At my college there is almost a riot if Planned Parenthood dares step foot onto our campus, but church organizations can set up tables to talk to our students.

Sure, everyone probably needs some Jesus and I'm not against that. But ass fucking as a method of birth control...we are indeed in need of some sex education too.

Have you ever continued to do something because you felt guilty if you didn't continue to do so?

It's amazing some of the things that we allow in our lives that put unnecessary strain upon us.

the day after...

Even though I had to work on my birthday yesterday it was still a good day.

In the evening the husband asked if I wanted to head to the expensive Japanese restaurant for some sushi. Surprisingly, I passed on the sushi and instead told him I wanted some beers, nachos, and bowling.

Several of my friends joined me last night at the bowling alley. I had a good time.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera to document the event.

Well, I've gone and done it.

Over the weekend I went into a Baskins to look for a pair of motorcycle styled boots. They had a nice pair but of course nothing in my size. That's usually the story for us 7.5 sized footed gals. We have an average foot size so that means high competition in beating the other 7.5 sized gal to the shoe that we adore.

The hubby held up a boot and said, "Did you see these?" I looked up and fell in love. I fell in love with a pair of cowboy boots. Let me restate that: I fell in love with a pair of cowboy boots, y'all.

That's right.

So, now I am a proud owner of some good smellin' leather cowboy boots that make me walk with a swagger in my step. Check these babies out: my new boots

- the trip to houston was good. i got some new indoor and outdoor wheels for my speed skates...they only cost me 150 bones. *gulp* this hobby is so damn expensive. i couldn't even look into getting a new helmet and knee pads.

getting to eat some korean food was awesome. how i long for it now. *sigh* i got some korean groceries so at least i have some things at home now. anyone know how long to steam asian sweet potatoes?

- i'm getting a tattoo tomorrow. i have wanted cherry blossoms tattooed on me forever but just never made the commitment to set a date. i'm also pretty frugal so it was hard for me to justify blowing that type of money. but shit...now i'm like what the hell. plus, it doesn't hurt that K just got a new tat so now i'm all obsessed about it so it's time to just do it. most likely it's going to be two sessions, which sucks because i would like to get it over with in one session.

i'm very excited and nervous too. the last time i got a tattoo was when i was around 18 or 19 and i totally forget what the experience was like. i guess the great thing about pain is how quickly the mind lets you forget about it. wish me luck!

- the only thing i have planned for this weekend is buying some new bearings for one set of my new wheels. other than that the weekend looks pretty clear for me which will be a nice change. i might even be able to check out my new outdoor wheels and see how they feel on the pavement. i've been skating for so long indoors that i've forgotten what it is like to skate outdoors. all the scars on my legs and knees are mostly from when i was a kid. i lived in my skates outdoors. :)
